There are no women in the bible more discussed than the Proverbs 31 woman. Today I am sharing how to start your morning like the Proverbs 31 women.

It's amazing how well known this woman without a name has become. Likely because her characteristic was so admirable.

Or maybe because of the ease of reading and understanding her story. Either way there is a lot that can be learned from the Proverbs 31 woman. She is sure to be talked about for decades to come.

How to Start your Morning like a Proverbs 31 Woman

My number one is to simply remember to only commit to doing what you can, when you can. By working every day to be the best version of the Proverbs 31 woman you can be. These tips below are great ways to develop 5 habits to help yourself along the way.

Wake up Early

Wake up early. A Proverbs 31 doesn't let her day to waste away. Make it a habit to be the first to wake up in your house. Believe me it makes the world of a difference.

I love my little one, but my day is more productive when I am able to get up first. There is nothing worse than feeling rushed first thing in the morning. An extra 15-30 minutes can make all the difference to your morning routine.

Get Dressed

Get dressed. A Proverbs 31 woman takes pride in her appearance without obsessing over her looks. So, get dressed no matter what you have planned.

You don't have to get dolled up. Just be sure to do your hair (even if it means tying your hair up in a scarf) and put on some clothes - even if it's a tank and leggings. Getting dressed will make you feel better about yourself. Plus, if you find that you need to run a quick errand your already ready.

Rest but don't be Lazy

I know it hard and that you gotta get sleep when you can. But remember you can't catch up on sleep -no matter how hard you try. Before bed just remember to tell yourself, you will wake up rested. Mindset is more important than the actual amount of sleep you get.

Get the Hard Stuff Done First

I know your dreading it. But if you get the hard stuff done first, then you're more likely to complete your entire to do list. Finishing the hard stuff first will help you feel motivated to keep going.

Take care of your Family

One of the things we admire most about the Proverbs 31 woman is her ability to take care of her family while still maintaining a life outside of her home. Be sure that your family is cared for mentally, spiritually, and physically.

You don't have too personally do it all. If you're too busy to cook breakfast grab fruit or bagels instead. Don't have the time to teach your little one bible stories attend Sunday service as a family. The point is to make use of all your resources, so you get the most done without wearing yourself out.

Words of Caution

As women and moms, we often feel like we have to do it all. I don't think the Proverb 31 woman accomplished everything in that verse in one day. From a busy doing too much Momma to another I just want to caution you to enjoy the journey.

It's okay to have an empty schedule, movie night, or to simply just lounge around. I know it mind bugling to do nothing. But I wanted to share a prayer in hope that it helps you to embrace Rest.

Prayer for Managing Life Pressures

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to not be a slave to being busy. To stop being self-reliant (slave to the idol of self-reliance). but to instead rely on you. Because I know that I have already been set free. Taking the time every day to acknowledge your goodness and mercy through bible study, prayer, and praise and worship.

Being productive is important. but being productive is not an excuse to not give you the time you deserve. Father helps me to not fill my schedule. But to instead always make spending time with you a priority. Recognizing that you are my strength, joy, purpose, and peace.

Help me to take refuge in the margins the space the break that the Sabbath was created to be. I know that Satan's wants us to be.

  • preoccupied with schedules
  • long list of things to do
  • for our hearts to be heavy with obligations and burdens
  • for us to try to carry the weight of our burdens on our own
  • our home chaotic and disconnected

Satan know that if he can just keep us busy. We won't have the time to recognize that you already gave us peace, contentment, rest, and balance. It's written in your word, and we know that your word is the truth.

Father helps us to not give in to pressure. You said we were not created of this world. Father, please renew our minds. When we are focused on:

  • living a certain lifestyle - American dream
  • debt, bills, and credit scores
  • possession
  • our appearance

Please help us to be reminded of your word. For you said you will provide all our needs and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Father helps us to not allow man-made pressure to create distance between us and you. For we know you are our shelter when our hearts are overwhelmed (Ps. 61:2-4). Forgive us for our sins Father. Forgive us for seeking false idols.

We ask that you give us the wisdom & discernment to make better choices. Choices that will bring us closer to you. You said if we delight in your father that you will give us the desires of our heart (Ps. 37:4). That will help relieve this unnecessary pressure that we put on ourselves to conform to the world standard.

Lord we put our hope in you, and we know your love is faithful (Ps 147:10-11). We ask that you give us the wisdom to make time to mediate on your word regularly, praise your name, and pray continually. In Jesus name we pray Amen.
