Choosing Love: When You Don't "Vibe" with Someone

Choosing Love: When You Don't "Vibe" with Someone

I once had a coworker I'd best describe as someone I didn't "vibe" with. In the past, before I knew Christ, if I didn't vibe with someone, everyone would know it—including the person themselves. But I thank God for His saving grace.

Needless to say, I'll never know exactly what about this person didn't sit right with me. Despite all this, when she told me about a sick family member, the Spirit moved me to send prayer cards. In a later meeting, she shared how the prayer cards had really helped the sick family member.

You don't have to care for people to care about people. You can love and be kind to people even if you don't like their actions, words, or lifestyle. People should know us by our love.

"By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." – John 13:35

Don’t be disillusioned by your feelings, "vibes," or the prideful belief that you’re discerning the evil or unrighteousness in another person.

"Judge not, that you be not judged." – Matthew 7:1

I recognize now that I could have easily taken the thought that I didn't vibe with this coworker and run with it. I could have let bitterness and offense rise up. But instead, the Spirit led me to operate out of love and to trust the Lord above what I felt.

This is just a reminder that as you are in the world—whether that’s at work, school, church, etc.—when you encounter those whom you don't feel fond of, choose love. But most of all, remember that:

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." – Ephesians 6:12

If you truly want to deal with the issue, then pray. Pray against the spirit you believe is operating in that situation. If you’re not sure of the spirit, ask God for the wisdom to discern.

I dare to believe that the light of Christ is so bright within you that it aggravates demons. So while you have their attention, pray and cast them back to the abyss where they belong.

"And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss." – Luke 8:31

I don't know about you, but I don't want demons and satanic forces comfortably hanging out around me.
