Before I got saved, my heart was so hardened I found it hard to see the beauty in anything. It didn't matter if I was surrounded by the city lights of downtown Atlanta, the picturesque palm trees of downtown LA, or the ocean view at Miami Beach. Years of hurt, trauma, and disappointment had covered my eyes with tinted lenses which could only see the flaws, shortcomings, and issues in my surroundings.
But after my encounter with Christ, everything in my life truly changed. Day by day, He began to change my perspective, way of thinking, hearing, and vision.
If you have ever looked at Dear Bold Believer stationery, you likely noticed most of our stationery and books have a floral theme.
It’s hard to believe that when I was in the world, I hated flowers. You would not catch me in floral anything. Give me a graphic tee, abstract design, black nails, etc., but a floral dress, comforter, decor picture, etc.—absolutely not. I see now that my heart was so hardened I could not enjoy or even be encouraged by the beauty of God that was surrounding me on a daily basis.
"In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land." — Psalm 95:4-5 ESV
Now I am in love with flowers; they are one of the ways that I see God's beauty on earth. They remind me of His love for us.
He loves us so deeply that He would include beauty within His creation plan, from the beauty of the vast seas, land pastures, and floral fields, to the mountain terrain. I see the sovereignty of my ABBA Father, who not only reigns but restores, renews, and maintains and cares for even the flowers and birds.
"And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" — Matthew 6:28-30 ESV
Our God has an eye for details.
There is a joy and freedom that I have now that surpasses any title, connection, wealth, or knowledge. The joy of the Lord is an all-encompassing, unexplained feeling. It’s the belief that you can have hope in Him for tomorrow. I can trust Him with it all, even in what I don’t understand.
I pray our stationery and underlying floral themes remind you that the Word of God is beautiful, faithful, and transforms us all by the power of the Holy Spirit within each of us.
